An unserious but detailed breakdown of the Woodvale series to prepare you for LW
Lesson Learned: Owen and Sarah are both teachers who have an emotional affair that lasts the entire school year… until they both find themselves single at a teacher convention and do the hanky-panky in a hotel room. Sarah ends up becoming the new principal of Grissom Elementary.
Love Lessons: Kendall (Owen’s ex, BTW) gets with Mason, the father of Finley, one of her students. Sarah and Owen get married and later announce they’re having some fertility struggles. We also meet Xander, a friend of Owen’s, who’s kind of a dick. But he perks up when someone mentions Abigail, the school librarian. Also, school board member Noah Sherman hits on Kendall during a field trip. Ew.
Yesterday’s News: Meghan, a newspaper reporter, and Chase, a TV reporter, get back together after breaking up years ago. Xander is Meghan’s co-worker at the paper, and he opens up to her a little about his feelings for Abigail, who we now know he’s been friends with his entire life. We also get to know Erika and Sean, the local comic bookstore owners. Meghan ends up taking over as the editor of the Woodvale Times. In this book, Noah Sherman is buddying up with the corrupt CEO. Wow, he seems like a bad dude.
Breaking News: Jill (the news anchor) gets with Graham, the interim CEO of the news network. We learn that Sarah and Owen are still having fertility struggles and are getting frustrated. Earlier in the book, Jill dates Xander, but they break up when he can’t tell her he’s not in love with Abigail. We also learn that Noah Sherman is a total douche canoe who’s cheating on his wife. Gross. And lastly, nobody knows why Xander moved back to Woodvale from Chicago a couple years ago (between Lesson Learned and Love Lessons.) Sounds pretty sus.
